One of the most rewarding ways to experience the magnificent Alps is by driving the scenic high alpine passes. From 20 to 26 June 2025 the French Alps were our driving terratory. The roads that traverse the French Alps are well-known for their twists and turns, high altitudes, and stunning vistas that provide an opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful destinations in Europe.
The Alps provide driving enthusiasts with miles of snaking tarmac across challenging terrain and provide enough adrenalin to last the rest of the year. Bends&Curves Alpine Apex - France edition was a tour for contempory sports cars. On Friday 20 June 2025 the participants assembled near Lac du Bourget (south of Annecy) in the afternoon. For the 30 participating cars, we created a varied combination of routes for five driving days that, one day, went over high Alpine passes, such as l'Iseran, Madeleine, Lauteret, Galibier, Télégraphe, Glandon, and the next day, through the middle mountains – think Massif des Bauges, Hauts de Chartreuse, and the Parc National des Ecrins. The middle mountains are actually the most beautiful when it comes purely to driving. Quiet roads, a succession of corners, beautiful gorges... on the other hand, nothing beats the experience when you drive up a pass of 2,000 m and more, passing the tree line, while the challenging roads for drivers are also plentiful there. The participants and we liked the mix!
After five days of driving the most beautiful roads and famous passes in the French Alps (amongst others, parts of the Route des Grandes Alps), the tour ended on Thursday morning 26 June, east of Grenoble. During Alpine Apex 2025, we stayed in three hotels, to spend two nights in each hotel. From 20 - 22 June we stayed in Hotel Château des Comtes de Challes*** in Challes-les-Eaux. From 22 - 24 June Hotel Le Grand Aigle**** in Serre Chevalier was our base. Finally, from 24 - 26 June, we stayed two nights in Les Mésanges Hotel Restaurant*** in Saint-Martin-d'Uriage.
