The Belgian and Luxembourg Ardennes are a real paradise for the drivers. There are many challenging roads and the fun level for drivers and their cars is excellent. So yes, we had fun during the Ardennen Run 2025 that took place from 23 to 26 April - a lot! We drove through undulating landscapes with long, then sharp bends. One hill peak was climbed by challenging hairpins, the next one was easier and more straightforward, so plenty of variety.
40 sports cars assembled at the iconic Spa-Francochamps race track, where we had access to the inner ground area. All set and good to go for approximately 560 miles / 900 km amazing, curvy B-roads we had planned for them. Hotel Azur en Ardenne in Durbuy was our base during the tour - a wonderful, welcoming, highly recommended hotel.
The Belgian Ardennes is an ancient, mountainous region in southern Belgium, formed 500 million years ago. Known for its complex geology, biodiversity, and deep valleys, it is a haven for nature and driving. The area features historic, charming towns like Durbuy and Dinant, famous for their medieval architecture and citadels. The River Meuse meanders through the landscape. The road next to it follows the curves of the river, making some parts real gems to drive.
In the roadbook several points of interest were indicated. For instance the Maredsous Abbey, famous for the beer and cheese which is made locally. Also medieval Dinant was worth a stop. This town is best known for its iconic citadel that towers against the rocks above the town. Freÿr Castle and the Castle of Veves were some of the pittoresque castles along the route.
One of the routes crossed the Belgian/Luxemburg border. Although neighbours, the atmosphere in both countries is different. The north part of Luxembourg reminds you in some ways of Switzerland. It even has a road with a number of hairpins in a row - it goes by the name of 'mini Stelvio'. The Luxembourg roads are truly amazing. It made us realise that we wanted more - hence we've put the Grand Duchy Run on our 2026 calendar!
Way too soon, the tour ended on 26 April. After another great drive, during which we crossed the German border to have some fun on the Eifel roads, we offered our participants a lunch and great views in the 360 Panoramic Restaurant next to the Gileppe reservoir.
